Protect Our Sacred Land, Air, and Water: Stop the EPA's Attack on Climate Safeguards

The United States federal government has a long history of walking back promises and protections. Now, under the second Trump administration, it seeks to continue the legacy by ending Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules created to protect communities from toxic air pollution. These protections, called the 2009 Endangerment Finding, enacted greenhouse gas emission regulations on motor vehicles and created the legal foundation for federal climate regulation. The regulations were a result of the Endangerment Finding determining that greenhouse gas emissions harm human health.

Throwing out these regulations doesn't just repeal car emission standards. By eliminating the Endangerment finding, the federal government is removing the stance that greenhouse gases negatively affect human health. The federal government could then argue to eliminate all greenhouse gas emission regulations.

This dangerous move would throw out the rules that protect our communities from the smog that sickens our children and the climate pollution that fuels disasters. It would create a free-for-all for oil and gas operations, power plants, and other industries to poison our air and water for their own profit.

This is an attack on our health, our treaty rights, our ways of life, and our sacred responsibility to future generations.

We have until September 22 to flood the EPA with a powerful message: they must uphold their trust responsibility and legal duty to protect our people and our resources.

Sign Sovereign Energy's petition to keep the Endangerment Finding. Tell the EPA to protect us.
